Course Structure Overview

We will guide you through a series of transformative sessions. Each session is designed to be completed in approximately 45 minutes to an hour, allowing you to absorb and apply the material at your own pace (about the length of a therapy session).  We begin by bringing you up to date on Modern Attachment to help you on your journey toward secure relating, rather than focusing on the goal of secure attachment.  Then we get to the juicy part – deep dives into the Green, Red, Blue and Tie Dye Zones of interpersonal relating. We conclude with strategies for integrating these concepts into your daily life, setting you up for your ongoing journey toward more more enduring relational security.

So What's the Bottom Line?

Whether you're seeking personal growth or professional development, this course provides the tools to foster secure and meaningful connections in all areas of your life.  It brings over 1/2 century of research, Ann and Sue's decades of clinical practice and insights from their years of podcasting and speaking on this subject… all in a format that is easy to understand and enjoyable to consume.

Don't ya love a good FAQ?

We do too – so here are the need-to-know best ones:

I've read their book - will the course be different?

That's awesome that you've read the book.  The course will deepen your understanding and now you can focus more of your attention on personal exploration of the ideas. You will get a lot more from the course now that you've read the book.

What book, and do I have to read it?

Secure Relating: Holding Your Own in an Insecure World (2024) is Sue and Ann's critically acclaimed book that covers much more than what is in this course.  You do not need to read the book or listen to the podcast to benefit from this course – we've got you!

Do I need prior knowledge of attachment theory?

No, you do not need to have prior knowledge of attachment theory. We are good at covering what you need to know quickly without getting bogged down in history and science.  It's all designed for wherever you start on this journey.

How is the course structured?

The course consists of a series of self-paced sessions with slides, each lasting approximately 45 minutes to an hour. There will be video lectures, reading suggestions, personal assignments, and interactive exercises.

Is there a community aspect to the course?

There will be community opportunities –  and we hope community engagement. It'll depend on the energy and level of interest from participants.  Sometimes people just want the info and move on to their busy lives, others want more.  We will see what shakes out and support the interest that emerges.

What other resources or materials are availabble

The course will include printable worksheets and writing exercises, as well as other reflection opportunities. We will also provide supplementary resources to support your learning.

How can this work for both professionals and the general public - won't one be unsatisified?

We love to engage with all interested learners, both professionals and life long learning of any background. We've got years of experience with our podcast listeners and online community that is a mixed audience.  The professionals feel challenged and stimulated and those there for life long learning purposes are insightful and savvy and are sometimes ahead of the mental health pros – it's not about the letters behind your name, it's about the openness in your mind and heart.  🙂
